Philanthro-Capitalist Description

Back in late 2007 when I coined the term Philanthro-Capitalist™ I remember searching Google, Yahoo and MSN for the term and could find nothing. Today I ran a search and there are pages and pages of results for the same term.

The other thing that I did was I put a trademark symbol besides the term Philanthro-Capitalist™ but I knew it meant nothing. In fact I still chuckle when I think about doing it that first time.

While I am tickled that this term is getting all the play that it is receiving I still think that my meaning of the term is very different than what I see out there. So what does it mean to be a Philanthro-Capitalist™?

A Philanthro-Capitalist is a business person who is engaged in giving while creating a profit which in turn allows for more giving or philanthropy while creating even more profit. With this model there is ascending growth so that more and more people are impacted.

On the hand charities operate on a self-liquidation model. They receive money, give it all away and then come back asking for more. Charities also spend a huge amount of time and money raising money. As Philanthro-Capitalists™ become more successful, charities will be the beneficiaries of the funds generated from their businesses.

I write this explanation here to answer once and for all the many people that often approach me and say “Allan Marston – Philanthro-Capitalist – what the heck does that mean? I hope this explanation suffices.

You know this organization is doing some phenomenal work. My name is Allan Marston and yes I am a little biased as I brought this organization to Calgary. I really liked the fact that they take people from poverty to sustainability program of Food, Water, Education and Micro-Credit Loans.

The local Calgary Team is not only currently impacting over 12,000 people every month they are also creating tremendous impact as you can see from these two press releases – one from Thanksgiving 2008 and one from Christmas 2008.

The Game – Second Half

In my last post I wrote about 3 types of people In The Game and before I get into more detail on these people here is why it is important. If you focus on communicating with the right people you will have better results and not get frustrated.

Those Who Get In The Game are people that don’t mess around. They play hard and think big! They play to win but are not afraid to lose. They would rather be IN the game, getting knocked down and bruised, than be in the stands watching. These people are tough to find because they are in high demand and are already playing somebody else’s game. So stay in touch with them, build a relationship and someday they just may play your game.

Those Who Watch are also referred to as the audience or the fans and they are a boisterous lot. They love to tell people who are playing the game how they could play better even though they do not want to get in the game. These arm-chair coaches and quarterbacks can be extremely critical and love to give advice that they rarely live by. They are very fearful of playing the game. The good thing about this group is that some of them, sometimes, get into the game, when they overcome their fear.

Those Who Don’t Come To The Game are content doing whatever they do. They don’t care about the game and sometime will watch from afar. Don’t waste your time with these people not because they are not winners but just because they really don’t care. The good thing about this group is that sometimes they become Those Who Watch. That usually happens when they hear that the game is getting real good and they jump on the band wagon. A couple of years ago when our team was in the finals of hockey a whole bunch of these people jumped on the bandwagon. The problem is they are also the first ones to jump off.

That is why I suggested that you focus your energy on the first two. Your life will be less frustrating and you will be more prosperous. Because YOU are probably In The Game!

The Game

That off course can be a very frustrating experience unless you understand The Game.

There are only 3 types of people:
1- Those who Get In The Game
2- Those who watch
3- And those who don’t even come to the Game

Have Your Prayers Been Answered?

We often pray that God will just give us a chance.
And yet when we get a chance we fail to act on it.

You might have heard this wonderful story but maybe you need to read it again.

It is the story of the man who lived in a house all by himself.
One day there was a great flood and the main floor was full of water.
So he went to the Second Floor and stood by the window and prayed.

Some people came by in a Canoe and said "Come on old man, let's get you out of here."
"Oh no - Go ahead," he said, "God will take care of me."

Then the floodwaters rose to the second level and he had to go to the third level.
A Motorboat came by while he was praying on the 3rd floor balcony and again he told them to go ahead because God was going to save him.

Soon the floodwaters forced him onto the roof and a helicopter spotted him and tried to pluck him to safety but he steadfastly refused to go.

And then he drowned and next thing he knew he was there standing in front of God.

"God what happened to you?" he asked, "I believed with all my heart and soul you would come and save me."

The lord smiled at the man and said, "I tried, my son. Who do you think sent the canoe and the motor boat and the helicopter?"

I hope that little story puts a smile on your face and an inspiration in your heart.

Have you been praying for something to happen in your life?

Whether you are praying for love, money, happiness or peace just pay attention to the messages around you.

Maybe your canoe or boat or helicopter is sitting right there in front of you and you just refuse to see it.

That’s what happened to me.

For 4 months I was signed up in this business praying for financial relief in my life.
Then one day I woke up and realized that what I was asking for was right there.
The right vehicle, in the right place and at the perfect time was right under my nose.

All I had to do was get in the vehicle and drive it.

Maybe there is someone in your email database that is in over their heads financially and they are looking for something to save them.

Don’t try and figure out who they are. Just tell them about this Blog.

It could be the answer to their prayers!

Are You G.R.E.A.T.?

Winston Churchill said “The price of greatness is responsibility” and that should serve as an excellent reminder for each us who have achieved a measure of greatness in this wonderful business of ours. In fact as we climb up the ladder of success with this company, and we will, we need to remember that we will have legions of people looking up to us for guidance and holding us up as examples of how great men and women should look, talk and behave.

Network Marketing is unlike any regular job out there, where when you are not at work you are not on stage. In this business you are always on stage. Whether you are at the supermarket or at a hockey game you never know which downline might be pointing to you and speaking of you with admiration. Don’t let them down by being off guard.

So to help you out a bit I have put together a few points that some of you might not find foreign at all. This is what it takes to be G.R.E.A.T.

1- G is for Grooming! You are a successful, respected, well-liked businessperson. Do you always look the part?
a. Here is the suggested dress code for all public meetings:
i. RVP’s and would-be RVP’s should always be dressed like they are going to a business meeting because that is exactly what you are doing – therefore dress shirt & pant and jacket. Take it from someone who knows the fashion business: You don’t need to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks.
ii. Presenters should ALWAYS be in a tie. Now don’t get technical with me female presenters – you know what I mean. If you need any ideas just pick up any business magazine and see how business people dress.
b. When you are out and about you don’t need to wear a suit to the supermarket but maybe a raggedy sweat suit is not fitting of your newfound stature either.
2- R is for Respect and Responsibility!
a. You have a responsibility to help without being asked and all of you do that so well. You also have a responsibility to meet and greet everyone even if they are not ‘Your’ people.
b. Out of respect for your upline, downline and company when at a UPM meeting keep it ALL UPM!
3- E is for Edification! Edification is the process of building up or uplifting someone.
a. In this business we Edify our upline by saying wonderful, yet true things about them. The magic of Edification takes place when that upline in turn says something good about us. The effect if done well on both sides can be like waving a magic wand over your business.
b. A key point to remember is that Edification MUST work BOTH WAYS! I have already noticed that some leaders Edify really well but their upline’s don’t re-edify them in return or do a poor job of it.
c. Failure to Edify can sometimes seem like de-edification and can likewise have a disastrous effect on your business.
4- A is for Action which as you know speaks louder than words!
a. Do what you say you are going to do
b. More importantly DO what you are telling your people to DO.
c. And DO IT like you want them to do it.
5- T is for Teaching! Teach what you know through your example and what you do. When you tell people what to do that is called Preaching. People rarely learn from Preachers but more often than not they learn from Teachers.

That is how G.R.E.A.T is lived and greatness begets more greatness, which in turn begets more wealth and fame and all that you desire!

Learn these things while you are still leading a few because soon we will all be leading many.

Judge People By This Alone!

Most people don't have guts – they are timid – live in fear and Never Take Action.
As a result they are stuck being poor forever.
They spend their whole lives 'wishing' and 'praying'.

In fact, now I only judge people by one thing:
Not by the words they speak;
Not by the way they look, dress and smile;
I only judge people by the Actions They Take.

Even if you never see the actions they take you can still tell whether they are Action Takers and what kinds of Actions they are taking.

Spending more time with our families is why we are building this business as hard as we are right?

Well that is my primary reason and so today was a great reminder of why I work as hard as I do in this business.

I hope with all my heart that every one of you truly understands what it is you are in and how close you are to busting loose in this business.

In fact you are just a decision away!

So make the decision today to do 3 things consistently:
1- Listen to ALL the phone calls – there are only 3 of them a week.
2- Attend ALL the meetings – there is only one meeting a week.
3- Spend 67 minutes every day Building Your Business. That means you meet with one person every day and share with them what you are doing. Your job is not to recruit, sponsor, get them in, convince them or sell them on anything. All you have to do is SHARE this wonderful opportunity with them and let them decide for themselves.

Note: I have done the calculations and if you spent 67 minutes every single day for 11.5 months you could be earning over $3,000 per month. That is based on a 90% failure rate. So if only 1 out of 10 people signed up and spent just $100 in the AD Program every month and if only 22 % of those people did what you did and committed to 67 minutes a day you could be financially free in 11.5 months.

I hope that fires you up and I really do hope you make the decision to do the 3 things I have outlined above.

Your Network is Your Net Worth

In just about any business Networking is critical and in ours it is even more important especially if you truly want to make money.
However, most people don’t have a clue what to do at a Networking event.
And if they do they don’t know what to say when someone asks them “What do you do?” They freeze especially if they are a Network Marketer.

So here are a few hints especially for our business:

You definitely need business cards when going to a Networking Event.
Do you have a printer?
If you do you can go to Staples or any office supplies store (even Wal-Mart) and buy Business Card Blanks.
That way you can make some temporary cards.
Not to have business cards at a networking event is a major business sin.
You can also access Free Business Cards (just pay shipping and handling) by clicking on the link at the very bottom of this Blog.

Now what do you say to people when they ask you what do you do?
In fact I will give you not only my response but responses I learned from other leaders in this business.

Here goes: They ask, "What do you do?"

Your Reply:
"I help people create a Reliable Second Income."
"I show people how to make money from infomercials on TV & Radio."
"I am a Financial Freedom Engineer"
"I show people how to use a professional media company to make money in a Home Based Business".
"I teach how 100% of people make money without selling."
"I teach people how to make money using a very unique method."
"My business partners and I teach people how to make money through a no-cost customer acquisition program."

Now in almost every case you will get the following response:
"How do you do that?" or "What is that all about?"

This is where you have to be strong, have great confidence and posture as you reply:

"It takes about 15 minutes for me to explain how that works. Are you looking for ways to increase your income?"
If they answer yes - take out your daytimer:
"So when would be a good time for us to meet? How does this Wednesday work for you or is Friday better?"

WARNING:
You will be tempted to give them more information.
Just a teeny, weeny, little bit of information won't hurt - right? WRONG!
When you give someone even a little bit of information what you are doing is giving them two or three pieces of a 150 piece puzzle.
They then make a decision and turn us down based on almost no information.

Now that being said, if someone asks what company I am associated with I tell them.

If they ask for a website - this is what I say:
"Oh I will give you all of that information after our meeting."

The key is to have confidence and not let them push you into telling them more about what you do.
One way to do that is once you have booked the meeting turn the spotlight back on them by asking them questions you haven't asked before.

Those questions should be based on F.O.R.M. - you know what those are right?

Family - How many kids do you have - Is your family from around here - etc.

Occupation - What do you do - Where do you work - etc.

Recreation - Find out what they like to do in their down time - Do they golf, fish, workout, play soccer - etc.

Money or Message - Everybody has their own message - maybe they are involved in Network Marketing already - maybe they have a side business to make extra money.

At a Networking Event these are the 3 key rules:
1- Get their Business Card and give them yours
2- Do less talking and ask lots of questions
3- Meeting ‘Lots’ of people is not as important as making a solid impression with a ‘few’ people. Quality counts not Quantity!

After a Networking Event these are the 3 Key Rules:
1- Follow up within 48 to 72 hours with a phone call or an email at the very least. Here is an email script:
a. Hi Bob, It was a pleasure meeting you at the Chamber’s networking event on Tuesday evening. I really enjoyed our conversation and I will call you in the next few days to see if there is any way in which I can help you with your business. Maybe we can get together for a coffee and get to know each other better. Take care Bob and have an awesome week! Allan

2- Give Before You Receive! Always ask them what you can do for them first before you ask for something from them. Think of it as making a deposit before you make a withdrawal. The other way around you would be overdrawn and no one likes that.
a. If you asked lots of questions when you met them then you will now know how to deal with this one
b. Be Sincere!

3- Stay In Touch! You can do this best through a monthly phone call. Email also works as long as you are not sending them junk mail. And yes folks – jokes are junk mail!

Just remember that your Network is your Net Worth!
Grow, Protect and Nourish your Network and your Net Worth will grow accordingly!

Success Clues

I also know as you probably do as well is that if you do what successful people do then you too will be successful.

1- Have A List
a. They not only have a list they are always growing their list.
b. They know that their confidence is as strong as their list is long.
c. A short list makes you desperate to sponsor the few people you have.
2- Practice Success Association
a. They attend every single phone call
b. They attend every single meeting
i. Even if they have no one new to bring out.
ii. They understand that you become who you hang out with and who you listen to (thus all the calls)
iii. They know that success attracts success and breeds more success.
3- They Are Teachable
a. They Listen – They Learn – They Act!
b. They Listen More Than They Speak – especially when they are in the presence of someone who is more successful than they are.
c. They understand The Science of Listening means not waiting to speak as soon as the person stops talking – but truly Listening!
4- WIT Attitude – Whatever It Takes
a. They have a Never-Say-Die Attitude
b. They Don’t Make Excuses
c. They will go Over, Under, Around or Through – What Ever It Takes – They DO!
5- Work as A Team
a. They are not Shy about asking their Leaders for Help
b. They seek the Team’s Support and in turn Provide The Team Support by attending meetings and Doing what They say They are Going To Do.
6- They Go After Success With Urgency
a. They don’t tinker and play around with it
b. They are in a huge hurry to grab their piece of the pie
c. They Hit it HARD
7- They Are Loyal To Their Downline, Upline and Company.
8- They Are Focused
a. For a while they put all their eggs in one basket.
b. That means they stay singularly focused
9- They Are Avid Readers – And Are Eventually Great Leaders
10- They are Passionate, Excited and Disciplined
a. They use their passion and excitement to Do Something EVERYDAY
b. Nothing stops them from doing that little bit or a lot each day
c. When they walk and they talk their passion and excitement draws people to them in droves.

You can take these Success Clues and apply them to our business or you can apply them to any business or venture in your life. If success was a gourmet meal this would be the recipe and if success were a Science then these would be its laws.

Use them diligently and you too can join us at the top!

What role has failure played in you career? For instance, your label Fanfare Records went under in 1989, and your reality show Cupid was canceled in 2003.

When I was 30 the company that owned Fanfare went bust, and I effectively lost everything. I had to move in with my parents. In hindsight, it was the best thing that happened in my life.

Because I learned:
1- The value of money: not to borrow money and not to live beyond my means.
2- And I learned that getting there is more fun than being there.
3- But one thing that I have always been able to do is to own up to my mistakes and not blame others.As for Cupid, we compromised. We allowed other people to make decisions for us, [but] I don't blame anybody but myself for allowing that to happen.

Learning From Successful People - Oprah!

That is what I have done as I listened to or read the words of Millionaires and other highly successful people.

I have taken the liberty of highlighting some of the key points in this excellent article.

To strike a chord with their audiences, executives must learn how to make an emotional connection. No one does that better than the talk-show queen

Like most of you, I couldn't help avoiding news coverage of Oprah Winfrey's mea culpa over the fabrications -- okay, lies -- in James Frey's book A Million Little Pieces. After his distortions were exposed, Oprah apologized for supporting Frey. It served to remind me why millions of people love Oprah and what the rest of us can learn from her in our own personal or professional communications.

Oprah is someone I consider to be an authentic communicator, in the sense that the dictionary defines authenticity: worthy of trust. It's a refreshing change from the culture of finger pointing we seem to find ourselves in these days. In a Roper poll conducted last August, more than 70% of respondents felt that wrongdoing was widespread in Corporate America. Trust is at a premium. Your customers, colleagues, investors, and employees crave it.

In my career as a communications coach, I work with many executives who are sincere, genuine, caring, and concerned. They are authentic human beings, but as communicators, they sometimes don't quite understand how to make a strong emotional connection with their audiences. I ask them to pay attention to the following traits of authentic communicators.

ADMIT MISTAKES. So few people are willing to fess up to mistakes that Oprah makes headlines by simply admitting she was wrong. But it's exactly why so many of Oprah's viewers feel a strong emotional connection to her.

Last year, I worked with an executive at a high-tech startup in Silicon Valley funded by one of the world's wealthiest individuals. The executive had to deliver some bad news. By going in the direction he originally endorsed, a crucial product had not worked properly, meaning its launch would have to be delayed.

After discussing how best to handle the presentation, we decided to have the executive start the presentation by admitting to his mistake, or misjudgement, instead of pointing the finger at his team of engineers or vendors. Only after he fessed up would he spend the next 20 minutes explaining what he had learned and how it would help the product become even better.

Understandably, I couldn't attend the actual presentation. But I did hear that the wealthy investor "felt good" about the executive, the team, and their ability to correct the problem. The executive kept his job and the company has since enjoyed considerable success, including a glowing profile in The Wall Street Journal. If you make a mistake, own up to it.

LOWER THE SHIELD. Oprah is confident about herself and is not reluctant to lower her shield from time to time, telling stories that give people a glimpse into her pain, joy, and what's truly in her heart. I'm not recommending that you share your innermost secrets, but I am suggesting that personal stories go a long way toward reinforcing trust with your listeners.

For example, another woman who enjoys an authentic relationship with her audience -- readers and viewers -- is personal finance guru Suze Orman. She gave me a lot of time for my book, 10 Simple Secrets, and was one of my favorite interview subjects during my career as a business journalist. There is a good reason why Orman stands out among America's 650,000 financial planners: She connects on a personal level. People trust her. In conversations she shares stories about herself and the financial struggles her family experienced.

The Secrets To Bill Gates Success

I have always been on a quest for knowledge and especially the secret to success. And in that quest I have spoken to numerous wealthy and successful people and listened to even more successful and wealthy people being interviewed on Television and Radio.

One of those people I have followed very closely is Bill Gates (my idol and we share the same birth date and year).

Bill is the richest man in the world and was interviewed on the Larry King Show. On the show he said a few things that I would like to share with you. These 3 nuggets are available to all of us most of the time. So why aren’t we as successful as Bill? Read and find out!

When Larry asked about his incredible wealth and success Bill Gates said, “Larry, I was at the right place at the right time, and luck has a lot to do with that.”

There you go! Nugget # 1:
~ You must be in the Right Place at the Right Time ~ and yes luck does have something to do with it.

Bill Gates continued, “But Larry, there were a lot of people at the same place I was. One difference was I had vision. I saw the potential that was there.”

Bam! Nugget # 2:
~ You must have Vision ~ With that Vision you need to see the potential in the opportunity that lies before you.

Mr Gates was not through yet. He continued, “But Larry there were a lot of people at the same place I was and a lot of people had the same vision. The Big Difference was I took Massive and Immediate and Focused Action.”

Most Importantly! Nugget # 3:
~ You Must Take MASSIVE and IMMEDIATE and FOCUSED ACTION ~

I cannot count how many times I have been in the right place at the right time but I lacked Vision.

With Vision I would have been able to see where that opportunity would have lead me to. Instead of wondering how long it was going to last or whether it was too good to be true, I should have put on my positive, long range glasses and looked into the future.

Finally, how many times have we been in the Right Place at the Right Time, we could see the Vision but life just got in the way and we procrastinated and never took action?

The last few years I have not let that happen. 3 times in the last 5 years I have been in the Right Place at the Right Time. 3 Times in the last 5 years I have had the Vision and 3 times in the last 5 years I have taken Massive and Immediate and Focused Action. I have yet to see my rewards from the first two companies but they are coming sooner or later. The present one and you all know which one that is, is producing huge dividends already not just for me but for all who have inadvertently followed these Billionaire Nuggets.

Now what about you?

Are you going to take Massive and Immediate and Focused Action or are you going to let Life’s little challenges keep you from a life of abundance?

When my mentor first showed me this Action Plan I thought he was nuts. I was working 60 to 80 hours a week and stressed beyond belief. That is the reason I had sought his advice.

He simply encouraged me to begin by setting small goals. Small enough so that I could do what I said I was going to do and thus Be Accountable.

Slowly we increased the size of those goals until one day a couple of years later I noticed what had happened. I was spending more time learning and less time working and still earning the same amount of money.

Today I find the more I learn, the more I earn and the less I work. Isn’t that where we all want to be? If you agree then lets get started with my mentor’s 5 Step Action Plan which I will share with you over the next few weeks. I do this because that is how my mentor got me started. Doing just one thing at a time instead of overwhelming me with too much all at one time.

Step 1 of 5 – The Education Action Plan

Reading

It is said that readers become leaders. And people follow leaders!

Now I have always been a reader but the stuff I was reading, like John Grisham novels, were not making me any money and had no potential to make me money. I started reading stuff like Think and Grow Rich and The Magic of Thinking Big and suddenly things began to change.

The next problem many people have is that they have no time. You see the right type of reading is like putting fuel in your car. Can you imagine not having the time to fuel up your car? Eventually you will run out of gas.

When my mentor first spoke to me about effective reading I had already run out of gas. And many of you might be in the same place today. If you are you need to make the time. Even if it is only ten minutes a day!

If you are not a seasoned ‘effective reader’ a great place to start is with The Magic Of Thinking Big by David Schwartz. I have just picked up this book again and have started to read it for the seventh time.

Let’s read it together and share our thoughts on this Blog.

By the way a great way to get rid of the weeds in your mental garden is to read. So read and weed and soon you will lead yourself and many, many others to the promised land of financial prosperity.

Step 2 of 5 – The Education Action Plan

Seminars

Originally I intended to only share one of these steps at a time. The reason I want to get into it right now is that there are so many seminars that you can go to for free. Sure they pitch you stuff but they also give you a lot of knowledge to help you grow.

One seminar that has been so effective for me has been The Millionaire Mind Intensive. There is one coming up in Calgary, Alberta from November 11th to the 13th. Seminars are an excellent way to grow and meet people as well. Don’t underestimate the power of what one seminar can do for you. Within four months of my First Millionaire Mind seminar I had quit my job. Sure I had the right vehicle but then again how many of you have that same vehicle? They teach that the Roots determine the Fruits on a tree. That seminar helped me get healthy roots and today the fruits are bountiful.

Once again beware of that financially fatal disease called Excusitis. If you’re saying I can’t get the day off – that is precisely the reason to go. I called in sick when I went a year ago. I wasn’t lying! I was Sick! I was sick of not having money! I was sick of being told when I could take my vacation. I was sick of working for someone else.

Today I am happy to report I am not sick anymore!

The Fruit On My Tree – The Third Secret

All of my mentors put a very high priority on Education but not the kind of education one received in the traditional schools of higher learning. One of my mentors when asked would say that the only degree he had was a PhD in Life!

Another mentor, a doctor, with many, many degrees and a highly respected Cancer Specialist had printed behind his Network Marketing Business Card “Even thermometers have degrees but look where we shove them”. If you are too young to get this one ask your parents where they used to shove thermometers in the old days.

Every mentor of mine stressed this third and most critical secret – no matter the cost:

3- Get an Education

It is said that when Knowledge Meets Opportunity, Success Usually Follows! Today there is virtually no reason why one cannot attain all the knowledge they desire on any subject.

The old excuse that it is too expensive, does not hold true today. Given the Internet, Libraries and Free Seminars that are available to everyone, getting an education has never been more affordable.

The other excuse of having no time is probably more valid but should not be acceptable. We should always be able to MAKE time for the important things in life. And that is the key! How important is success to you? How strong is your desire for success (the fruit on your tree)? If the desire is strong and you believe it is important then you will wake up early, when everyone else is in bed and execute your Education Action Plan that will follow next.

We have an awesome opportunity in our hands. So if you are not already successful or if you are not as successful as you would like to be (and that’s where I am) then it might be a case of Opportunity seeking more Knowledge, rather than knowledge meeting Opportunity.

I hope you decide to Grow Now and Grow Fast so you can take advantage of the opportunity at hand.

Next I will share the Action Plan my mentor created for me. To say that it has drastically changed my life in every way would be an understatement.

The Fruit On My Tree – The Second Secret

Over the years I have had an over exposure to people who talk big and do little. Talk is Cheap and so today I look for the fruit on the tree rather than try to figure out who is going to do what. I don’t pay much attention to those who say they are going RVP next week or SVP in 30 days. Actions speak louder than words!

In fact I get really concerned when someone starts to speak like that because I know that they are going to end up in that Black Hole where big talkers end up, never to be heard from again.

My mentor taught me a critical method to avoid the Big Talker Black Hole and that is the Second Secret:

2- Be Accountable

If you are an adult there is only one person responsible for your growth.

YOU!

You can make excuses like I initially did, like I had no time and so on or you can make a little time each day.

You can blame others or you can say, “If it is to be, it is up to me!”

If you find it difficult to be accountable to yourself then find someone who can hold you accountable. I chose to have my mentor hold me accountable. It was a painful process at first because he would ask if I had done what I said I was going to do.

He taught me that Accountability simply meant that I have the Ability to Account for my Words with Actions.

These were the 5 rules he put in place for me to be accountable:

1- PLAN – He who fails to plan… Plans to Fail!
2- ACT – Consistently and Persistently Act on your Plan.
3- TRUTH – Be truthful to yourself or to the person you have chosen to hold you accountable.
4- CONGRUENCY – Align your Words with your Actions and DO what you SAY you are Going To Do.
5- TRACK – Keep an Account of your progress or Track your Results. Remember rule # 3 when doing this and don’t fudge the numbers the way some people do when they are golfing.

When you have a Plan and you are Acting on it and when you are being Truthful and Doing What You Say you will Do and Tracking your progress, people above you and below you will know that they can count on you and depend on you. You will then be given increasingly more responsibility and with all of that will come abundance.

That is what I was taught and I know and believe it to be true.
Make it your motto to “Do then talk about what you have Done”!

The Fruit On My Tree – The First Secret

Now whenever people become successful there are always a few people that think it is luck. If you are one of those people and think like that, you will be waiting a very long time for some ‘luck’ to happen to you. Like waiting, wishing and praying that you win the lottery!

There is another way! And that is what my old and wise mentor I wrote about in my previous email, taught me.

These secrets if acted up on will provide your tree with the nourishment it needs to grow and sustain a big, strong and bountiful tree.

Here is the first of the 3 secrets:

1- Be Teachable

There is an old saying that says, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” So what happens when the teacher arrives and the student is not ready? If this email and maybe even the last one seems hokey or rubbish to you then save it for another time. The teacher has arrived a bit early.

If on the other hand some of this makes sense then the first secret is to be open to learning. Allow yourself to be taught.

Being teachable is being coachable and being willing to listen. When my mentors spoke I listened and took copious notes. I am so glad I did because today I need them for myself and for you.

If you have not noticed already, when I am around Super Dave I don’t do much talking. I want what he has so I listen. I take notes! I ask questions! I try not to get distracted because I don’t want to miss that one thing he might say that could get my tree closer to bearing even more fruit.

Teachers and Teachings come from many, many areas and you must be open to ALL those areas. In the beginning some of those teachers might be boring to you. Or they might preach too much for your liking. There is nothing wrong with those teachers. You might just need to grow a little bit more.

Finally, when you find the teachers that inspire you most and give you strength, follow them, listen to them and hang around them and their every word. Get yourself a journal and start writing and reviewing all that you learn. This is the fastest way to expedite your growth.

The Fruit On My Tree – The Facts

I just want to share something with you that I had the good fortune of learning from a wonderful, enlightened and wealthy mentor of mine many years ago.

We were sitting in his back yard and I wanted to know what I needed to do to be as successful as he was.
In front of us were two apple trees.
One was very large and the other one he had just planted and therefore was very small.

He said, “You see those apple trees?”
“Look at the branches on that big tree. There are many branches and they are strong. Look at the fruit on the tree. The fruit are big and hopefully will be as sweet as they were last year.”

“Now look at the tree that I just planted,” he said pointing to the much smaller tree. “First it does not have that many branches. The few branches it does have are small and weak. Do you suppose it could support those big apples that are on the other tree?”

He went on to point out that no matter how much the smaller tree ‘desired’ to have fruit like the bigger tree it would be a disaster if in fact it got its wish. The tree needed to be nourished and it would have to weather the winds so that it became stronger.

It is no different with us he pointed out. Except we need to be responsible for our own nourishment and growth. He pointed out that the size of the fruit on my tree was always going to be directly proportionate to the ability of my tree to support those fruit.

He laid out a plan for me to grow myself so that one day I would be big enough to grow and support large fruit and then sustain it.

Lots of employees or lots of shareholders or lots of customers or lots of leaders and a huge downline are all fruit. If you have not been able to attract leaders or if you seem stuck or if you can’t seem to grow past a certain point as far as attracting more people into your downline then your tree is probably not big enough or strong enough.

Over the next few days I will share with you my old and wise mentor’s secret for nourishing and growing my tree. I followed his advice and today I am experiencing some pretty decent success. My tree has many branches. Three of those branches are strong and have strong branches of their own.

Our own leader in Toronto is another person who has a big solid tree with many strong branches and big healthy fruit.

How did he do it? How did I do it? Was that success created just over the last few months or the last couple of years?

FREEDOM TRAIN

Here is why I chose the name Freedom Train for this Blog.

in the early 19th century and continuing well up to the Civil War, the so-called freedom train was a secret and extensive network of people, places, and modes of transportation that led runaway slaves from the southern United States to freedom in the North and Canada.

Freedom was always on the minds of African American slaves and the news of the Underground Railroad gave them hope. Even though every single one of them needed to be free, a very small percentage had the courage and faith to leap on board.

What does all this have to do with our business?

I believe that we offer modern day wage-slaves or job-slaves a way to escape by building real income. Our modern-day Freedom Train also offers hope to people who always have Freedom on their minds. We too have something that everyone needs but not everyone will have the courage and faith to leap on board.

That’s Okay!

Those diligent workers lead by Harriet Tubman in the early 19th century, who persistently toiled under great risk to them, did so because they knew what was at stake. They believed in Freedom and they were determined to free the oppressed.

We too must stay true to our cause of freeing the masses from their oppressive financial burdens. We have the vehicle to accomplish this worthy goal. Some will follow; others will not; but in the end the world will be a better place.
